We use metal cutting and forming capabilities to assist an Indiana-based truck trailer industry customer with this product development project. Our excellent metalworking expertise allowed us to create a durable stainless steel under-frame storage box for truck trailers that the customer could market.
The customer required that the storage box be watertight and secure for use underneath a trailer or truck frame. We decided to construct the box from durable stainless steel along with aluminum extruded parts and ply metal. Plasma cutting, brake press forming, drilling, and welding were selected as the manufacturing processes. Galvanizing of some parts, in addition to polishing, was conducted to add more corrosion resistance. Tolerances were held at ±1/32.” Dimensional and visual inspection validated the quality of the construction.
Our production methods allowed the creation of a cost-effective and weather resistant storage box product with performance exceeding customer requirements. Medium volume delivery of the boxes was done in only two weeks.
